A circle of friends on pilgrimage for the love of God

We take short prayers, phrases, psalms upon our lips and quietly breathe them throughout the day. These prayers become a way of focusing our thoughts, feelings, and hearts toward the Lord in the midst of each moment. Here are some Psalms I’ve clipped that have blessed and strengthened me.

My mouth is filled with your praise,
and with your glory all the day. (Psalm 71:8, RSV2CE)

You are my God; have mercy on me, O Lord,
for to you do I cry all the day. (Psalm 86:2b-3, RSV2CE)

Teach me your way, O LORD,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name. (Psalm 86:11, RSV2CE)

Children of men, how long will you be heavy of heart,
why love what is vain and chase after illusions? (Psalm 4:2, NJB)

In peace I lie down and at once fall asleep,
for it is you and none other, Yahweh, who make me rest secure. (Psam 4:8, NJB)

But joy for all who take refuge in you,
endless songs of gladness!
You shelter them, they rejoice in you,
those who love your name. (Psalm 5:11, NJB)

Yahweh, you listen to the laments of the poor,
you give them courage, you grant them a hearing,
18 to give judgement for the orphaned and exploited,
so that earthborn humans may strike terror no more. (Psalm 10:17-18, NJB)

Look down, answer me, Yahweh my God!
Give light to my eyes or I shall fall into the sleep of death. (Psalm 13:3, NJB)

You will teach me the path of life,
unbounded joy in your presence,
at your right hand delight for ever. (Psalm 16:11, NJB)

May the words of my mouth always find favour,
and the whispering of my heart,
in your presence, Yahweh,
my rock, my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14, NJB)

Steadfast love surrounds him who trusts in the LORD. (Psalm 32:10b, RSV2CE)

By day the LORD commands his steadfast love;
and at night his song is with me,
a prayer to the God of my life. (Psalm 42:11, RSV2CE)

O my Strength, I will sing praises to you;
for you, O God, are my fortress. (Psalm 59:9, RSV2CE)

For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from him comes my salvation. (Psalm 62:1, RSV2CE)

O God, you are my God, I seek you,
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where no water is. (Psalm 63:1, RSV2CE)

Because your merciful love is better than life,
my lips will praise you. (Psalm 63:3, RSV2CE)

Let the groans of the prisoners come before you;
according to your great power preserve those doomed to die. (Psalm 79:11, RSV2CE)

Restore us, O God of hosts;
let your face shine, that we may be saved. (Psalm 80:7, RSV2CE)

If the LORD had not been my help,
my soul would soon have dwelt in the land of silence. (Psalm 94:17, RSV2CE)

I will sing to the LORD as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have being. (Psalm 104:33, RSV2CE)

From the rising of the sun to its setting
the name of the LORD is to be praised! (Psalm 133:3, RSV2CE)

The earth, O LORD, is full of your steadfast love;
teach me your statutes! (Psalm 119:64, RSV2CE)
